The reinforcement of the supports of the Gelevard Steel Arch Bridge
Gelevard Steel Arch Bridge, located in Mazandaran province (south of Behshahr) and on the Gelevard Dam Lake, is being constructed by Arak Machinery Company. This bridge is of the metal arch type and has a length of 300 meters. The construction of the wall and facilities of the Gelevard Dam with a crest length of 270 meters and a wall height of 113 meters was completed in 2019, and the dam was imponded with a limited capacity. However, due to the submergence of the communication road of about 60 villages upstream of the dam in case of complete flooding, the construction of an arch metal bridge with a length of 300 meters and a width of 12 meters to cross the lake was put on the agenda, after which the dam would be fully filled. On both sides of the bridge, the steel structure is placed on concrete supports, which are tied to the walls of the valley with the help of long cable tendons. In addition, the probable movement of the above structures is monitored by a number of precision instruments (extensometers) and the force inside the tendons is monitored by a number of 200-ton load cells. The drilling of the holes, supplying pre-stressing materials, and full implementation of consolidation and monitoring operations was awarded to Payab Zamzam Company. In this project, the bridge supports including backpacks, boxes, as well as the foundations are stretched and strengthened using 3-8 strand cable tendons with a length of 12 to 24 meters. Some of the tendons in this project have two layers of corrosion protection (DCP) and some have only one layer of protection. The steep geometry of the valley walls and excavation in the abrasive and crushed ground are among the difficulties of this project.
Zagros Commercial-Administrative Complex of Karaj
The 26-storey Zagros administrative-commercial complex is located in the first square of Gohardasht (Rajai Shahr Karaj). The services provided by Payab Zamzam Company in this project are:
Excavation and design of wall reinforcement method by ground anchoring method. This pit was dug in the vicinity of the busy Gohardasht road in the first square, and immediately adjacent to the eastern side of this pit, a tall building with a glass façade was constructed. The depth of the pit was 30 meters and the work was carried out safely and on time.
Land area 2082 m2 Excavation depth: 30 m
Brazil Commercial-Administrative Complex Tehran
The 24-storey Brazil office-commercial complex is located on Brazil Street in Tehran. Due to the presence of residential buildings on the sides of this site, the precise implementation of the ground anchoring system in this project was done with great precision. The services provided by Payab Zamzam Company in this project are reinforcement of pit walls with the help of cable tendons and mesh and shotcrete coating (SCP). The tendons were stretched with high-power hydraulic jacks.
Land area 25,000 m2 Excavation depth: 25 m
Javan Steel Office Complex
Excavation and stabilization of the walls of the Javan Steel Office Complex was performed by PZ. This complex is located in the Shadabad area of Tehran. The soil of the project site is of the type of deciduous soils and this project was carried out using reinforcement by the nailing method by self-drilling rods. The supply of all materials, implementation, as well as tooling and behavior recording was done by this company. The excavation was carried out in a stepwise manner and in several stages and simultaneously with the implementation of the ground reinforcement step by step.
Cavern reinforcement in Uma Oya Hydropower Plant (Sri Lanka)
Reinforcement of the roof of the caverns of the power plant and transformer of the Uma Oya Dam, Sri Lanka was our task. The project, which was implemented in the highlands of Sri Lanka, is part of the country’s hydropower complex. The reinforcement of the caves of this project was done with the help of protected monobars with two anti-corrosion layers. Reinforcement method was by using DCP monobars with a diameter of 36 mm along with installing and stretching them in lengths of 6 to 8 meters. The construction of a double-layer anti-corrosion system was carried out at the project site with the construction of a sloped ramp.
Karkheh Dam spillway reinforcement
Execution of precision drilling operations between the spillway reinforcements of Karkheh Dam as well as supply, assembly, installation and stretching of anchorswas the job task. This project was carried out in order to increase the number of cable tendons in the spillway of Karkheh Dam (located 21 km northwest of Andimeshk). In this project, it was decided to add new tendons to the spillway by drilling new holes in the reinforced concrete of the spillway structure. Due to the proximity of the new holes to the previous tendons, the operation of precise drilling without deviating along 20-meters was very important. By performing an experimental hole by different contractors, the deviation of the Payab Zamzam company hole had the lowest deviatin amount among the drilled holes, so the execution of the work was awarded to this company. The pre-stressed cables were installed at a high height inside the pits and the work was completed by grout injection and stressing the cables.
